It’s a weeklong event anticipated by viewers from all over the world. It’s bigger than some national holidays. It’s more anticipated than my personal favorite, March Madness with the NCAA men’s and women’s college basketball tournament (well, maybe not quite). It’s SHARK WEEK!
That’s right, Shark Week 2021 is happening right now in an ocean habitat near you. We definitely don’t have anything like this on my home planet of Amicitia, so I fully embrace (with ALL my tentacles) this television spectacle. And this year, they added something new to the mix: The Jawscers Awards.
So far, we’ve seen the winners of such categories as Most Fintastic Show Title, Best Swim-fluencer and Best Coral Hygiene. I’m still waiting for the category of Slimiest Shark.
And as coincidence would have it, while the Jawscers were being handed out, myCUmortgage opened nominations for their annual awards. This program has become a staple of the annual Partner Conference, which is scheduled for October 19-21 in Dayton, Ohio. If you haven’t already done so, we encourage you to Register Today and plan to join us during the Annual Awards Luncheon.
Recognizing the outstanding work of both partner credit unions and individual Loan Originators, nominations for each award are based on activities conducted by a credit union between July 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021. To make a nomination, all you need to do is complete and return the Nomination Form no later than July 31, 2021. There’s a very good chance that you and/or your credit union could be in the running for any of these categories:
- Purchase Money Lender of the Year
- Lender of the Year
- Marketer of the Year
- New Partner of the Year
- Originator of the Year
- CU Select Partner of the Year
- Government Partner of the Year
I strongly encourage you to check out this great opportunity to be recognized during The Amazing Mortgage Race in October. Yes, I realize we are all very busy and don’t all have several tentacles like me with which to multitask. I encourage you, with both eyestalks, to look at it this way: the investment of just a little time to make a nomination is worth more than you probably realize. For those of you who prefer to give the credit to someone else, think of this as a nomination you are making—for yourself, a colleague or your team—on behalf of the members you serve and all the work you do for them.
No matter what the size of your credit union, you should always consider entering the myCUmortgage Annual Awards or other business award competitions. There is a huge variety of awards programs out there, from local to national, industry based or with specific criteria.
Deciding which competitions to enter could be challenging, but it’s important to weigh the time and effort it would take to enter against the potential gains. With resources often stretched, putting yourself forward for business awards is not always at the top of the agenda: however, here are five reasons why doing so could be good for your business:
