It’s Time for the Credit Union Emmys

If you’re a fan of popular culture, you know that the 2025 Emmy Awards nominations were announced just a few weeks ago. These awards – which are presented by The Television Academy and The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) – are a symbol of recognition from over 22,000 representatives of the television industry. There are a variety of categories that the Emmys recognize, including Best Actor and Actress, top writing achievements and even Best Game Show.

As a self-proclaimed aficionado of Earth-based television and film, I was very excited to see many of my favorites make the list. I love The Bear, for example, because it’s fascinating to see the inner workings of an upscale restaurant and all the efforts that go into ensuring each customer has a wonderful experience. The series reminds me of our goals as credit union mortgage lenders – we just go about satisfying members in a much calmer and non-violent manner.

A few of my other favorites receiving nominations are Andor (a favorite because, like Cassian Andor, I am from outer space); Only Murders in the Building (because who doesn’t love a good whodunit with a comedy twist?); and Severance (because, well… it’s just plain weird). What are some of your favorites? Please share, as I’m always looking for new recommendations of shows and movies to watch!

Around the same time that the Emmy nominations were announced, myCUmortgage opened its own nominations for its annual awards. This program has become a staple of the annual Partner Conference, which is scheduled for October 14-16 in Dayton, Ohio. If you haven’t already done so, we encourage you to Register Today and plan to join us during the Annual Awards Luncheon.

Recognizing the outstanding work of both partner credit unions and individual Loan Originators, nominations for each award are based on activities conducted by a credit union between July 1, 2024, and June 30, 2025. To make a nomination, all you need to do is complete and return the Nomination Form no later than August 29, 2025. There’s a very good chance that you and/or your credit union could be in the running for an award in one of these categories:

  • Purchase Money Lender of the Year
  • Lender of the Year
  • Marketer of the Year
  • New Partner of the Year
  • Originator of the Year
  • CU Select Partner of the Year
  • Government Partner of the Year

Additionally, nominations are open for our most prestigious individual award, the Tim Mislansky Belief Award. Created in honor of the former myCUmortgage President, Tim’s greatest strength is “belief”: enduring core values that give his life direction at work, at home and in his community. To be eligible for this award, the nominee must be a Partner Credit Union employee associated in some way with mortgage lending who follows Tim’s lead by demonstrating that they live their core values at work, at home and in their community. You can use the same Nomination Form as the previously mentioned awards.

I strongly encourage you to check out these great opportunities to be recognized during this year’s conference in October. Yes, I realize you are all very busy and don’t have several tentacles (like me) with which to multitask. But look at it this way: the investment of just a little time to make a nomination is worth more than you probably realize.

With resources often stretched, putting yourself forward for business awards is not always at the top of the agenda; however, here are five reasons why doing so could be good for your credit union and mortgage business:

  1. Free Marketing
  2. Benchmarking
  3. Increased Credibility
  4. Employee Motivation
  5. Attracting Talent and Membership

These are just a few perks of industry awards, and the time is NOW to put on the ritz for the 2025 myCUmortgage Annual Awards! Simply download the Nomination Form, follow the instructions to complete your entry and get it back to us by August 29. If you have any questions, I encourage you to reach out to your Partner Success Manager.

Good luck – and we look forward to recognizing you and your peers for helping your members enter An Era of Possibilities in their Pursuit of the American Dream of Homeownership!
