Dream Makers in An Era of Possibilities

It’s been an action-packed month of October here at myCUmortgage. As I’m sure you are aware, last week was our annual Partner Conference. Every year, I make the comment that THIS year was the best I’ve attended since my time here on your planet – that comment holds true for the 2025 event. In true Roaring Twenties style, every part of this year’s Partner Conference was the bee’s knees! If you’d like more details on the event, check out my previous post, aptly titled, The Bee’s Knees.

My intention for this blog post was to write it live from the event; however, too much doing the Charleston at the Opening Reception changed my mind. Instead, I focused on resting my tentacles at the conference and devoting all my energy to the tasks at hand, including attending top-notch professional development sessions, checking out the new loan origination system in the Demo Room and networking with the best-of-the-best in credit union mortgage lending.

We truly did have the best-of-the-best on hand in Dayton, many of whom were recognized during the Annual Awards Luncheon. The theme of this year’s conference couldn’t have been more suiting for this year’s winners, as they were recognized for helping their members enter An Era of Possibilities in their Pursuit of the American Dream of Homeownership. Let’s tip our bowler caps one more time to these dream makers:

  • Large Credit Unions: Desco Federal Credit Union, Portsmouth, Ohio
  • Mid-Sized Credit Unions: Midwest Community Federal Credit Union, Defiance, Ohio

This year’s winners are certainly the cat’s pajamas when it comes to credit union mortgage lending – congratulations to all of them! Let’s also give a glad hand to the following loan originators who helped 100+ members with homeownership:

  • Jennifer Bacon, Wright-Patt Credit Union – 187 members assisted

Making the American Dream of homeownership a reality was the MO for these LOs, and it was most certainly the mantra for this year’s winner of the Tim Mislansky Belief Award: Kerri Fortner with Call Federal Credit Union. Be watching this blog for a post dedicated to Kerri and her pursuit of “belief” at work, at home and in her community.

The Annual Awards wouldn’t be complete without the announcement of the winner of the Susan Edwards Scholarship. Named after the late Susan Edwards, a former employee of myCUmortgage and fierce advocate for small credit unions, the scholarship is awarded annually to a smaller credit union that demonstrates excellence in assisting members with homeownership. The scholarship funds attendance at the myCUmortgage Partner Conference. We were immensely excited to announce this year’s winner: Neighbors United Federal Credit Union from Greenwood, S.C.

Congratulations again on all your achievements over the 12-month award period… and beyond! Readers, please include your commendations to the winners below in the Comments section – they are most deserving and serve as inspiration for them to continue to make member dreams of homeownership come true. Here’s to possibilities!
