What’s Your Sign?

I’ve recently expanded my social media presence by joining one of the most seasoned social platforms, Facebook. I did so purposefully as myCUmortgage joined the site about a year ago and I didn’t want to miss any of their posts and insights. I encourage you to follow them on Facebook as well.

While I am open to making new online friends, I regret to inform you that my Facebook profile is toggled to private. While I would like to share my knowledge and experiences with the Facebook community, you must understand that although I’m a friendly extraterrestrial, I would rather avoid any interactions with the Men In Black, S.W.O.R.D. or Sector 7. (And don’t even get me started on The Syndicate.)

The point is that I’m on Facebook, and I believe all of you who are also on Facebook will agree with me that the amount of content their algorithms push to you can become overwhelming. For example, I was looking for adaptors for my flux capacitor on various search engines. Later, when I logged in to Facebook, there was a barrage of posts and sponsored content on flux capacitors and some movie called Back to the Future. Come to find out the movie refers to this device, which is very real, indeed – Great Scott!

These same algorithms work within the platform too, as I recently learned to an extreme extent. I saw a post on the characteristics of the astrological signs that I mistakenly read as astronomy signs, of which I’m very familiar. I clicked on it and was somewhat disappointed to find nothing about astronomy at all; however, my eye stalks were opened to an entirely new vocation in astrology.

While I planned to look up more about these astrological signs and their correlation with the planets and stars, I didn’t need to because Facebook started pelting me like meteorites when flying through an asteroid field. Every other post was referencing the zodiac, “signs” and how they compare to each other: Hardest-working signs; best occupations for each sign; the signs of movie stars; what is every sign’s favorite midnight snack. The list topics became absurd, to be honest.

Nevertheless, I absorbed a lot of astrological information, so much so that I firmly believe I could substitute for a seer at a local carnival. Plus, I became familiar with the traits and characteristics of all the signs, and as I did so, a couple of signs set off my credit union radar – Aquarius and Cancer.

As it turns out, a credit union perfectly embodies the traits of these two signs. Aquarius represents the community-focused, cooperative and innovative tech side while Cancer rules the protective, nurturing and family-oriented approach.

Aquarius is the Community Cooperatist. Since credit unions are owned by their members, their focus on the collective “people helping people” ethos and cooperative networking align directly with Aquarius’ ruling of communities, humanitarianism and social equality.

Then there’s the Trusted Protector, Cancer. Credit unions are renowned for providing a safe, secure and deeply local “home” for their members’ money. Cancer governs family, emotional security and localized roots, which is why credit unions often feel more personal than other financial institutions.

In addition to these two signs, credit unions also heavily channel Earth signs like Taurus and Capricorn for financial stability and practical structure. These signs are the Wealth Builders.

Credit unions offer secure, grounded financial services designed to help members build wealth step-by-step. Taurus and Capricorn reflect the practical, long-term focus required for a “safe” savings account or low-interest mortgage.

Very interesting breakdowns, I admit. To my astrology friends, do you agree with the conclusion that the credit union signs are best represented by Aquarius and Cancer? Let us know your thoughts and insights in the comments section below. And for those true astrologers in the credit union space, how helpful would it be to know each member’s sign? If you did, you could match them up with their financial characteristics – check out this article on LendingTree that dives into what each sign says about their financial traits and habits.

How about on a personal level – what’s your sign? How do you fit into the astrological profile for your finances? Please share your comments. It’s an interesting exercise to see just how accurate these astrological profiles can be.
