It’s no big secret that during my time spent here on your wonderful planet, I don’t venture far from my living and working quarters located in Dayton, Ohio. While I monitor temperatures across the U.S. and keep an eyestalk on the weather for all our partner credit unions, I must emphasize that the climate here in Ohio is extremely variable to the point where I’ve literally experienced all four of your Earth seasons in a single day.
That being said, I’d like to issue a BOLO on this organism who goes by the name of Jack Frost! For those of you not as in tune… or rather obsessed… with television and cinematic entertainment as I am, a BOLO means Be On the LookOut. You Earthlings and your acronyms… but back to my point.
I would love to have a word with this Frost character. This past week, he abruptly took up residence in Ohio, and as a result, I found myself frozen to the metallic plasma alloy floor of my spaceship. You see, the slime coat on my body reacts much the same as a kid being triple dog dared into sticking his tongue to a frozen flagpole. Fortunately, I was able to free myself without incident, although I’ll omit from this post the actual method I used to free myself. I’ll let my readers’ creative minds noodle on that one.
Nevertheless, I was still left quite cold after being released from my frigid floor. I tried many of your Earth remedies to address this, including wearing layers upon layers of clothing and ingesting industrial size mugs of hot chocolate, all to no avail. So, I accepted my chilly fate and got on with my day and work. It’s at that point that a little warm miracle happened.
I started compiling the information I needed to write my next blog post, and if you read my most recent post, you know that the topic is the final award presented during the 2023 myCUmortgage Partner Conference Awards Luncheon: the Tim Mislansky Belief Award. This is the most significant recognition myCUmortgage presents to an individual in the credit union mortgage lending industry.
Created four years ago in honor of myCUmortgage’s former President, Tim Mislansky, who is now President and CEO of Wright-Patt Credit Union, the award recognizes an individual who exhibits Tim’s greatest strength: Belief. It reflects the enduring core values that give Tim’s life direction at work, at home and in the community.
As I read the entry information for this year’s winner – Ana Petre of TopMark Federal Credit Union – I begin feeling warm from the inside out. My three hearts became filled with joy and happiness as I read about Ana and all she does for work, home and community. Read it for yourself and tell me it doesn’t have the same effect on you:
True to the Belief Award principles and the theme of this year’s conference, Amplify Your Mortgage Business, Ana is a rock star at work, at home and in her communities of Cridersville and Lima, Ohio.
At work, she consistently goes above and beyond her responsibilities, pursuing excellence in all aspects of her career. During the past few years, Ana and her team proactively identified the home loan needs of their community, maintaining the strength of the mortgage department despite the rise in interest rates. Ana consistently strives to align her efforts with her credit union’s goals. She understands the big picture and the smallest detail – and most importantly, she understands her members.
At home, Ana believes in the importance of family. Ana and her fiancé Brent have always been Number One fans of their children – Alex, Morgan, Max and Madison – and over the years have cheered for them at many Shawnee Indians sporting events. Their grandson, Maverick, whom they adore, often steals the show and has already stolen their hearts.
Finally, Ana believes in her community. She serves as Vice President of the Shawnee Athletic Boosters and donates her time to Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen. Her leadership and volunteerism have made a significant impact on the community, where Ana is highly regarded for her generosity.
At work, at home and in the community, Ana’s words and actions exemplify her unwavering commitment to improve the lives of those around her.
Take that, Jack Frost! The warmth and joy that Ana and the Belief Award deliver is no match for your winter chill. Congratulations, Ana, and thank you for all you do to assist more of your members with homeownership. Stay warm!
