Okay, so in my last post, I complained a little about your winter season here on Planet Earth. That was before I learned about your December holidays! As of late, I’ve been thrilled by all of the colorful decorations, rich foods and treats, the smells of the season, the festive music… it just makes me cry, “Wejpuh!” (Rough translation = Amazing!)
I also like the tales and stories that come with all the holidays. My favorite is the one about the ghosts and spirits who visit a crusty old miser of a banker to let him know that he is doomed unless he changes his ways and embraces the holiday season. I’m sure you know the one.
That story got me thinking. While all of us are mortgage “lenders” (I dare not say the “B” word again!), we actually are the antithesis of the miser in his counting house. If anything, we’re most like the spirit representing the holidays of today’s modern world, celebrating the good within all of us and bringing joy to those who most need a little boost in their lives. In other words, we’re the Spirits of the Credit Union Way!
The Credit Union Way continues to amaze me. People helping people—such a simple concept yet one that often gets lost in the everyday hustle and bustle of the world. However, no matter the circumstances, I’ve witnessed all of you from afar taking that extra step and going that extra mile to bring your members peace of mind, not to mention smiles to their faces.
