No Tricks – Just Treats!

Who is excited that tomorrow is Halloween? While it may not be everyone’s cup of tea, the day provides a lot of fun and excitement – as well as a few good-natured scares – to children and adults of all ages. My favorite part is the creative costumes depicting everything from fairy princesses to werewolves to friendly space aliens from the planet Amicitia! While my persona has yet to ascend to depiction by a Halloween costume, I can confirm that at least one lifeform will be donning the outfit in its hunt for sweet treats and Moon Pies.

Wearing Halloween costumes is part of what you call Beggars’ Night, where during the evening of Halloween, costumed individuals journey door to door uttering those famous words of the season, “Trick or Treat.” To me, this is like a one-sided game of Truth or Dare because who in their right mind would select to receive a trick?! While some light-hearted tricks may take place tomorrow evening, I anticipate a wealth of treats, one of which I’m going to deliver to you a day early.

Each year during the myCUmortgage Partner Conference, we recognize the best of the best in credit union mortgage lending. I recently celebrated these awards in my post titled, Dream Makers in An Era of Possibilities. If you read that entire post, I provide a teaser to today’s treat: this year’s winner of the Tim Mislansky Belief Award.

This award was created six years ago in honor of myCUmortgage’s former President, Tim Mislansky, who is now President and CEO of Wright-Patt Credit Union. Tim’s greatest strength is Belief: the enduring core values that give his life direction at work, at home and in the community. This is the highest honor myCUmortgage bestows on an individual.

Kerri Fortner, Director of Real Estate Lending, Call Federal Credit UnionThis year’s winner of the Tim Mislansky Belief Award is Kerri Fortner, Director of Real Estate Lending at Call Federal Credit Union!

Based in Richmond, Virginia, Kerri has been with Call FCU for 14 years. She started as a loan officer and then moved to underwriting before becoming Real Estate Lending Manager and now Director. Prior to Call, she worked at another credit union getting her start in the business as a teller and then manager.

She is described by her team as “a great boss” who is always there to help when needed. Kerri brings strong dedication, a consistently positive attitude and genuine support to her team. She is also a great listener and an excellent communicator who always makes people feel appreciated.

Kerri works long days and late nights to get things done right and has an overall positive impact on the Call FCU team.

Her amazing work ethic notwithstanding, Kerri always puts family first! She understands the importance of a great work-life balance. She is an amazing wife and mother of two kids who she takes to hockey games and gymnastics almost every day of the week while still finding time to serve as an active PTA member.

She describes her time at Call FCU as one of the best teams she’s worked with, which makes her job easy – everyone is a gifted, caring and professional.

She touts mentorship and guidance from her boss as being integral to her success in an organization that is willing to try new things and create new processes to assist as many members as possible.

True to the Belief Award principles at work, at home and in the community, the words and actions of Kerri exemplify her unwavering commitment to improving the lives of those around her.

On behalf of all of us at myCUmortgage, please join me in congratulating Kerri Fortner as the recipient of the 2025 Tim Mislansky Belief Award!

It’s been a true treat for everyone at myCUmortgage to work with Kerri over the years as she assists more of her members with homeownership. I am sure she has had the same effect on many of you.
