In one week, we come upon another American holiday that I’ve grown to admire over my few Earth years on your planet. That holiday is Thanksgiving. It’s a day that everyone stops, takes a breath, and reflects upon what they are thankful for. Unless, of course, you’re one of those Black Friday shoppers, but they are thankful, too… for bargains and short lines!
This year, more than ever before, we all have much to be thankful for. Yes, we’re still dealing with the effects of this pandemic, and some days, it’s difficult to see much other than that. But step back for a moment and look again. My eye stalks are picking up on some silver linings. I’m betting you are seeing the same.
I thought this week’s blog post would be the perfect opportunity to share those silver linings with you. After reading through them, I’m certain you will be feeling a lot more thankful yourself.
- myCUmortgage: This Credit Union Service Organization took a chance on an up-and-coming space traveler, and I’m extremely grateful for that. I’ve been a part of many organizations and held many labor assignments, from rocket fuel decontamination to managing the Slarp Department at the nearby supply post to working at a paper company in Scranton, Pa. But none of them walk the talk quite like myCUmortgage and its wonderful team of experts.
- The Credit Union Way: If you are reading this blog, chances are, you already know what I’m talking about. Simply put, the CU way of doing business is people helping people. We don’t look at only the mortgage loan—we look at the member whose dream is to purchase a home. Members are NOT numbers to us. They are our friends, family, colleagues, and neighbors. We don’t refer just to the number of “mortgage loans closed” but, rather, to the number of “members assisted” with home ownership, from application to the end of the loan’s term. Then we’re ready to help the members with their next home or whatever they’re next step may be.
- Our Partner Credit Unions: myCUmortgage wouldn’t be what it is without the fantastic credit unions that have partnered with us. I hear so often from both sides of the fence that we are not just partners, we’re all part of a mortgage family. For example, when I first arrived at myCUmortgage, we were discussing building tours following our annual conference. I thought, this MUST be an Earth thing, because who would want to tour an office building? I was pleasantly surprised when I watched the first tour and witnessed the entire gamut of positive emotions—joy, elation, happiness. There were many smiles, even more hugs, and a few tears of joy. That, to me, is family.
- Credit Union Members: We are all in this great credit union universe for one reason: To help members. They are why we are happy to go to work every day, excited to help them in any way possible, and thankful to be able to make a member’s life that much better, if only through a single transaction. Members are the heart of the Credit Union Way!
- The myCUmortgage Experts: What can I say? I work for the best company with the greatest team ever assembled! (Yes, even better than The Avengers!) Prior to this crazy pandemic, I witnessed multiple experts going above and beyond to help a partner or member, each and every day. It’s almost like they were in training for the Galactic Olympics, so when the pandemic hit, they went into full expert mode and have been excelling ever since. But don’t take my word for it—check out past issues of Partner Hotwire in your Smart Rooms and read for yourself what these experts mean to our partners and their members.
- My Loyal Subscribers: There’s nothing worse than putting effort into a project and having only yourself see it. When you start a blog, inevitably, that’s what needs to happen. You need to build your following by sharing valuable and interesting content. Thank YOU for taking the time to read my posts and for allowing me to share the expertise of the myCUmortgage team. You are what drives me to keep posting—I’d be a lonesome alien without you!
- Acme De-Sliming Solution: Without this stuff, my interface module provided by myCUmortgage would have an unsightly slime coat as I adapt to your atmosphere. I believe our IT Department is every more thankful for this!
What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving? I encourage you to share it with the Mort Community.
Now, I need to get busy on some gastro stretching exercises. From Thanksgivings past, I know what is required. That, and stretchy pants. Have a happy and safe holiday!
